As a veteran in interactive entertainment, Kim has uniquely synthesized his expertise of video games, internet development, and social media. His management experience and work with major interactive entertainment publishers offers foresight into new frontiers on the Internet and online buyer behavior.
Most recently, Kim worked as an Internet marketing strategist, and has been at the helm of several innovative dot com startups where social media was central to corporate strategy. He has developed and led Internet marketing strategies of commercial sites, online advertising and search engine optimization, and has developed viral marketing opportunities using social networks to build brand equity.
Kim has a long history in game development, production and management. He has been instrumental in creating over 20 game titles for such companies as MindScape, Mattel, Strategic Simulations, Microprose, and Disney Interactive. He has built games that are immersive worlds where players must learn how to act within dynamic systems; think procedurally within computationally rich spaces; and navigate complex information networks. Kim understands today’s players and the evolution of social games and casual play.
While working in the interactive entertainment industry, Kim was a producer at Zombie Interactive in Seattle, WA. He directed the development efforts of multiple, high profile game titles from concept to final release. He managed a 30+ person development team, which consisted of programmers, game designers, and 3D artists.
Prior to Zombie, Kim co-founded AEON games studio. The studio produced several best selling and critically acclaimed games for SEGA, Mindscape, Mattel, and Ubisoft. AEON’s leading title, Silent Hunter, was launched in 1996. Designed with the goal of becoming a leading WWII submarine simulation, the game remains one of the best 50 games of all time. The franchise has sold over 1.5 million units to date.
